No, it isnt. The owning faction is permitted to allow or deny entry to the system to ANYONE. Independents didnt pay 500 million credits for omicron 100, black squadron did. Been that way for a long time now, with all guard systems.

It doesn't have to be a story. I think that the Bs| just wants some certification saying that you have RP for the ship.

That's most of it, but they (and I) also want to ensure that the player applying isnt going to run rampant, going directly against whatever direction that black squadron is trying to take the order, within reason.

No order ship should ever be going into new york to start a fight, period. That isnt how the order behaves, and goes directly against what it stands for - and i'm not talking about something established by black squadron or any other players here, I'm talking about what the order was created for before this mod even came along. Igiss has made it fairly clear that he wants things to remain close to what was originally intended by the freelancer developers, that's what we're enforcing.

Yep, that's how it always ends up. Everyone who's been here and active on the forums for 4-6 months knows how anti-faction I used to be, but I was wrong back then. I've seen how bad some players can be, and how needed restrictions enforced by faction leaders are to keep things running smoothly here. However much I hate to see it that way, that's how it is.

As more players come to the server, and as more players like akumabito and nooblet actively try to throw the faction/indy balance into chaos with posts meant to do nothing other than incite hatred between the two, this server goes downhill. We have twice as many OORP players, in ALL ship types, as we did when I first started playing here 6~ months ago. It's getting out of hand, and the admins cant be on 24/7 to babysit the people who dont know better - I honestly think the situation here would improve if someone other than the admins (Meaning: Faction leaders) had the ability to determine who is and isnt fit for either the affiliation or the ship they're trying to get.

Tenacity, he's telling the truth, I'm afraid. Any Order IDed player has a right to enter and use the guard system. It was said so by an admin. Kurain, I believe, though I'm not certain whether it was him, or another admin. unsure.gif

And we've already discussed this, kuraine is a new admin and I (among others) believe he was mistaken in his statement. Factions pay the money for their guard systems, and ever since I started playing on this server, faction-owned guard systems have been regulated -entirely- by the members/leaders of those official factions. They can deny -anyone- the right to enter the system, regardless of level, ID carried, tag used, ship type, etc. They dont even need a real reason to deny access to the system.

Really, until the indies start pitching in money to pay for the system, they've got no choice but to respect the group that owns the system and -did- pay for it.

And they shouldnt need to compromise. Every time those OORP fleets of indy osiris battleships go tear new york apart, who do you think gets blamed? Black squadron. "Keep your indies in line!" everyone says, while Bs currently takes no authority for the actions of those people who are oorp.

Now, we're tired of it. Black squadron, as the official order faction, is tired of it. I'm tired of it. Several other independent order players are tired of it. I'm sorry - but if you want to blame anyone for the new stance black squadron and the rest of us are taking on ship 'registration', blame the indies who caused this mess in the first place by not knowing how the hell their own affiliation is supposed to behave.
