A House military or police force is the sort of organization that sticks with standardized ships, and for good reasons. First, appearances. A unified force of similar ships simply looks better and more professional than a Scimitar, Eagle, Hussar, Raven's Talon, and Stinger, to say nothing of the traditional association of Border Worlds ships with pirates. Second, maintenance. Because of the number of ships that have to be maintained, and the number of people who need to be trained in their maintenance, deviating from one primary ship line can be costly and time-consuming.

The Civilian ships are a little more easily justified for police (especially the LPI, as a corporation) since maintenance on a civilian craft is probably rather easy - even if you agree that the Border Worlds ships are essentially more advanced ships that are publicly available (as Jinx and I do, actually), the "more advanced" part implies more difficulty in repairs and part replacement.

So, my answer's "no", most of the time. That said, though, you could perhaps justify it with some sort of undercover or spying RP - you should contact the lawful agency (and perhaps target faction) in question about that first, though, and you likely would not want to use the police/military ID anyway.
