So once again continuing my thoughts on the matter... (sorry for the post above, I was rather upset with that "notice")

Can it be an "open faction"? Hypothetically, yes. Can it be opened now? Certainly not, like I pointed out at the lack of in-game infrastructure, it simply does not support such option at the moment. What would it need to be an "open faction"? Heck a lot. First we have to understand that role-play essentially is represented by actual players only, and that's a big factor here. There are no NPCs in bars that would tell you all that. Apart from the Shrine NPCs, and even those were just added as a little bonus for RPers around, I asked several high profile RPers around to contribute those NPC stories to it, so it wouldn't look like it was written by one person. But then again - what works for Shrine ain't going to work for real Nomad bases unfortunately. If you ever been in them (via running own server or OpenSP, for example) you'd know they're merely carbon copies of some other stations/bases around, there is nothing on them. To populate them, to add content that would help the "independents" here would require a lot of effort and time. And the fact is that essentially there is just one developer who was doing all that Nomad stuff around, and that was just me. Next thing is ID. A terrorist class ID running in wild would cause a lot of problems around. So essentially they would need their own ID with a set of limitations. In certain ways similar to what Trial ID is. Then comes reputation and methods of gaining it. Again not an easy area and a lot of technical limitations apply, limitations that exist for the Nomad faction (unlike the others it lacks a lot of technical parameters that are used in missions and stuff) and so forth. But all that are just technical matters. Aside of that exist a lot more, and the fundamental one is called responsibility. It's a running issue for many other factions around which are open, such subject alone would take pages and pages of talking about it, hopefully I'll have the time later to touch that subject as well.
