It's an interesting idea. I like the concept personally.

If you can't have both in one, how about splitting it and making two separate factions. After all there are two ship grave yards, one for the Corsairs and one for the Outcasts. And seeing as how they come from their individual graveyards and carry the memory of their original pilots, it would make sense that they don't know each other to start with.

To me it seems two separate factions would make more sense.

EDIT: Just saw Sindroms post, don't give up on it!!! Just try and alter it to make it fit.
