Atm, I would say bombers are better than gunboats for the 'Fly it solo yet still be able to win' role, better so than Gunships, As with skill you can solo gunships, and a helluvalot of fighters.
Although, you can solo cruisers with gunships as well, but to be honest, less people would whine if it was bombers that were used for the solo'ing role
