The problem is that every single MMO nowdays is trying to follow World of Warcraft in design... and frankly, despite being so 'successful', WoW sucks. It gives zero player freedom, zero player-created environment, zero player customization, etc; and on top of it there's zero RP because the developers didnt allow room for it.

The entire game is driven by grinds. Quest grinds, Rep grinds, Cash grinds, PvP grinds, instance/raid grinds, etc. They try to make the game as time consuming as possible to get as much money from you as they can.

Now, if more games would start following the Pre-CU Starwars: Galaxies design, where EVERYTHING was up to the players, I think more people would enjoy them. SWG let you completely customize your character, your equipment, your house, your ship, and you could even have entire player-made cities. There were no quests or raids or instances/dungeons - everything was open world with a player-driven storyline, and RP was extremely dominant there.

In WoW, even hinting at RP gets people /loling at you. In SWG, you would start RP'ing without even realizing that you were, because the game was that immersive.

I'm really hoping bioware doesnt make the new Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO like WoW and all these other failure MMO's -_-
