Harvey's Office, Sheffield Station

Harvey looked at the Psych Report. Guildnet could get into anything.

Quote:James Witter was born on California Minor. His parents are both law-abiding Bretonians. His parents work for Planetform, Inc. When James came of age his parents took him back to Bretonia, to Cambridge where he would study mechanics and ship production. It was during his studies that he met his wife, Lolita. They moved to Planet Los Angeles where Lolita became a teacher and James worked in the Equipment Dealership.
Ten years later with two children, Justin (7) and Hannah (4) on a usual holiday to California Minor to visit the grandparents something horrible happens. James is caught up in his work and sends his family to California Minor. During their journey they were intercepted by Liberty Rogues and killed brutally. James receives the news a few hours later and is distraught, blaming himself for what has happened. He spirals downwards in despair and grief, losing his job and most of his money. He leaves California and its memories to inhabit the bar at Freeport 4 for the next six months.

A window opened on the screen. It was George. It was twilight on Baden-Baden.

"Well, Harv'. What have you for me?"

Harvey read from the list.

"Well, APM is reporting progress on the IND order; the office in Bonn is up and running and I have a few applications for processing."

"Hmm. Good. Who have we got?"

Harvey read the names.

"Core trainee, name of Grafton. And some angry Californian ex-patriate, name of Witter."

The Director sipped his iced tea.

"So business as usual, huh? How's Bader?"

Harvey laughed.

"Sir Douglas' wife seems to enjoy the attractions Manhattan has to offer. But Sir Douglas, well, put it this way. He gets to commute, sit in an office all day, and enjoy Liberty radio."

The Director chuckled and closed the link.

Harvey signed the approval form.
"Recruit admitted on probation. Call-sign S/D-James.Witter."
