Fifty-Four Years Before Present day

Dear Sir Egan,

How are you?

My mother and father are doing very well, and I believe that I am doing quite well too. I still cannot thank you enough for helping me to my position. Every bead of sweat my work produces on New London as Governor General will be in your name and honor.

I must inform you, with a certain degree of regret, that I have run into a problem.

It has come to my attention following a recent survey through Planet New London that our unemployment rate has actually risen, despite the recent financial success of both the BMM and Bowex, in addition to rising consumer confidence in our money market. It would be my best assumption that many have flocked to New London from other parts of the Kingdom and Commonwealth in search of work - due to the higher pay and stipends offered by the employers here. Of course, there are no laws in place to prevent these people from choosing to make New London their home, and there are no laws that empower me to force them to return.

As a result, I've been forced into a predicament. Estimates are indicating that around 530,000 individuals on Planet New London are currently unemployed, and make the streets their home.

I have already asked my economic and social programming advisors to begin programs for the rehabilitation of these individuals, including attempts to help them find work on New London. I've also made several announcements, attempting to persuade these individuals to return home, but with the exception of a few, I have been unsuccessful.

Please, your wisdom and guidance has served me well for many years, Sir Egan. Any help or words of advice would humble your Godson.

With Loving Admiration and Respect,
Robert Halloran
