Seriously. The best pilot I know on the server took taken 3 gunboats on at a time and still came out victorious...But the same bomber pilot was taken on by one decent gunboat pilot that had him for lunch in 3 minutes.
Learn to fly something effectively, efficiently and with skill. If you don't your just gonna' get owned time and time again anyway.

you cant be owner only because you have cap... learn how to fly with your ship, what equipment to use, when and aginst who and than you can be owner... not just 5 minutes after you buy your ship.
