Admin Team Reinforcements

People have the option to remain anonymous, why should they forsake this right for you?

Because it is very important to know if there is something that would be bad enough against the candidates that would stop us from promoting them to Admins.

Why is it so important?
Because the Admin team MUST be composed of individuals....

• Whose personal integrity is high.
  
• Are very hard or impossible to corrupt / coerce.
  
• Can take full responsibility for the mistakes they make and apologize if necessary in front of the entire community.
  
• Do not allow arrogance and proudness to go in the way of the work they have ahead regarding the community.
  
• Can place the community wellbeing in front of their ingame personal agendas.
  
• Are critical thinkers.
  
• Know the RP and in-game stuff.
  
• Can interact in a friendly manner with the members of this community.
  
• Advocates for the freedom of speech.
  
• Are capable of listening to any member, no matter who the member is.
  
• Act with absolute impartiality, no matter her/his personal feelings.
  
• And also can work in team.
  

As you can see, the standards one have to adhere to in order to become an admin are quite high here, so we must be sure that the person or people we are about to promote are the right ones for the job.

In order to get someone promoted to Admin, the following protocol is used:

• When new admins are required, we look among those who are active enough on the server to be considered as candidates.
  
• The candidate(s) are then investigated by the members of the team, to see if they are, by their actions, fit for the position
  
• (and some of us (specially me) also put some tests ahead of him to see how they handle. If the subject handles the tests well, then I consider them to be fit for the position. So, next time you see a newb on a patriot, bear in mind that it could be one of us in disguise in order to investigate a player for whatever reason it might be;))
  
• After a debate that uses to take place on the admin forums, we approach the candidates to see if they are willing to take the huge responsibility that is to be an admin.
  
• If (S)he agrees, we then start a poll were we vote (and also justify our votes) to see if we all agree to put them for public vote.
  
• Those who pass the procedures, are then put for community vote to get the input of the entire community.
  
• We then weigh the positive and the negative votes, not only by numbers but also by the reasons of each player for the candidate to become, or not, an Admin. <-- This part is VERY IMPORTANT, as there is no way we can know everything about a candidate. So what the community has to say about him determines his future among the Admins. If there are enough good reasons not to let a candidate became an admin, we then reject her/him, maybe forever, maybe until (S)he is/are fit for the job.
  
• After that, those who passed are promoted to Admins, but they have to endure a trial period before being given all of the power that an Admin has. The trial period duration lasts whatever time we consider neccesary. Some have shorter periods, some have longer ones, but mostly the period duration tends to be around a month or so.
  

There are examples of what happens when an admin is chosen, and the process fails: Bulldognk, who used to rant and bitch a lot whenever he made a mistake instead of accepting nobody is perfect and apologizing, and also used admin powers to further advance his personal agenda ingame. Although he was a good guy when he joined, he kind of changed during his time here, and we had to end up kicking him off the team.

Now you can see why we like to hear the reasons from those who voted no. Not to take revenge or put them into a black list (an admin who is caught doing something as terrible as that would have a very high chance to get instantly kicked off the team), but to know if there are any good reasons we don't know about in order to keep someone out of the team.

Community vote is important. VERY important for us.
