GMG as a Corporation or Sovereign House

Is this thread intended to be one of open discussion/debate? Or a discussion between a select group of parties? -DL

I believe it was intended as an open discussion. At least from the skype chat I had with Bacon. He wanted the opinion of anyone interested. Orin is just high on himself, like usual.

Tenacity, first I will start with your discussion on Zoner ships.. First; They do produce their own. The Eagle is built solely by Zoners. It was also designed by the Zoners. Then you have the Zoner Gunship, Zoner Destroyer, and Zoner Juggernaut. All named for, designed by, built by, and used by, the Zoners. They don't only have a small ship here or there that is theirs. They have an entire capship line. GMG does not. Of course, this discussion is rather useless, since Bacon didn't even mention it. So your entire argument about this was useless.

Now on to their 'one major export.' Yes, they have H-fuel, still a necessary commodity for people.. However, that monopoly is threatened by Samura. While they haven't been wholy successful with mining it, they have managed to get some. They simply need to make their mining more cost-efficient and effective. More than that, GMG has to contend with Zoner's Deuterium, a new and abundant alternative to H-fuel. Rheinland refines some at Mannheim, and Kusari does somewhere as well. Liberty and Bretonia use less of it. However, since GMG is hostile, neither Corsairs or Outcasts by H-fuel. They probably make their own type of fuel, or buy Deuterium for their ships. So your losing business in Kusari, Rheinland, and the Omicrons. Thats a fair bit of your market. On top of this we add Gallia, which will have its own fuel source (not releasing details on what it is though). So its possible that smugglers will be able to get fuel from Gallia and take elsewhere, further denting your sales.

And while Drake makes a point that an agriculture isn't needed for an economy, manufacturing and industry are. You can make all the food you want, but without industry, you will not make money. Food is abundant, goods aren't. Lets take a look at Zoners. They export four major commodities. Food, Deuterium, Ships, and Services. Their biodomes provide enormous amounts of food to places that need it, like the Corsairs, Mollys, etc. They then sell Deuterium to Outcasts, Corsairs, Kusari, and Rheinland. On top of that, they provide Eagles and Zoner capships to GMG, many pirate factions, and other corporations. Lastly they have two services. Freeport trading hubs, and transportation. They transport goods not only for themselves, but to/from other factions as well. They also have Freeports as meeting places and markets. So what goods they do need imported can be bought on a needed basis, rather than en-masse from freelance traders on their stations. Which eliminates transport costs. Zoners also provide their own water from Freeport 10 in Tau-37, Gran Canaria (both by ice field and planet surface), and Freeport 1 in Omega-3.

GMG has H-fuel exported and every other commodity paid for, and paid to be transported to their stations. Very high costs there for a huge amount of goods. Not to mention the pay for miners, security pilots, and the corporation's office workers, as well as a large portion for the CEOs.

Zoners have a trade surplus, GMG has a trade deficity. Surplus gets you money.

Now on to your claim that GMG is as big as Outcasts, Corsairs, and Zoners.. Not even close, and this is laughable.

Outcasts:
Malta, Palermo, Ibiza, Ruiz, Cali, Cape Wrath, Captana, Corsica, (other station in O-85)
-9, and this includes a planet, something that happens to be very important.

Corsairs:
Crete, Tripoli, Yaren, Cadiz, (One in Omega-47 I forgot the name of), Leon, (their guard station)
-7, and this includes a planet, something that still happens to be very important.

Zoners:
Gran Canaria, Freeports 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 15, Ames Research Station, Lanzarote Station, Corfu, Livadia Shipyard, Spart, Corinth Research Station
-15, and this includes a planet, something that I guarantee is still, even now, very important.

GMG:
Naha, Aomori, Ogashawa, (their guard station)
-4, and their headquarters is located within a house's core systems, and in their territory.

I see a mighty big difference. Not to mention the three above have their own shiplines and capital ships. So GMG is much smaller than those 3, and those three are most definitely NOT smaller than the houses. Many people consider Outcasts and Corsairs as their own houses, and they basically are. Some also believe the same about Zoners, though determining their territory would be difficult because of their base locations. And because of their politics and policies.

And now to Slavik, who just shot himself in the foot.
KNF and KSP don't police Sigma-13, not because GMG does or does not want them to.. KNF and KSP are busy fighting a war. Even if that were not going on, they wouldn't waste men, material, and money defending two systems that they don't get anything from. Policing them would, in no way, benefit Kusari. That is why, not because GMG is oh-so-powerful. Which its not.

Aomori governs inside the stations.. Just like every other station known to man does. What happens inside is dictated by the faction running the base. But as soon as you leave, whoever's territory you're in controls what you may or may not do. So do whatever inside Aomori. But once you leave, obey KNF's laws.

And here is where you shoot your other foot and should think about getting a wheelchair. The 80-year war.. Rheinland invades Sigma-13. We all know this part and it is no farther that you looked. If you had, you'd discover several important things. Such as; Rheinland boarded and captured Naha after decimating half of GMG's security force. They also took control of the other gas miners in 13. The only reason they weren't able to continue the massacre was because Aomori was in Kusari territory. Rheinland couldn't enter and end it. So GMG was able to base from Kusari and launch quick strikes and then flee again.

If Kusari were to attack GMG, imagine it.. Naha would fall just as easily as it did to Rheinland, but Aomori would be able to be conquered as well. A single battleship and its escorts could do it. Ogashawa is then not far away. GMG's only advantage, experience in nebula warfare, wouldn't help them here. KNF is just as experienced in nebulas. Better trained, better equipped, and much much larger. GMG has no advantage against KNF and would be completely eradicated. Please do your homework before trying to use evidence..

For the Blood Dragons, I will simply quote you;

I direct your attention to the bolded word. Covert. Why is it Covert? Because GMG doesn't want KNF aware of it. Why do they not want KNF aware of it? Because then KNF calls up Kishiro and orders them to stop transporting for GMG. Kishiro will have no choice but to do what they are told. Another example of how GMG would lose a war.. Loss of all income. Then KNF would declare GMG enemies of Kusari, capture Naha, Ogashawa, and Aomori with ease. Hence, covert. So how do they have a deal with Dragons when they rely on Kusari? Simple, they don't. They have a covert deal, for the simple fact that if KNF finds out, GMG is screwed.


GMG does not hold sovereignty over anything but their stations, and in the case of Sigma-13 and 19, the gas fields around them. No farther. They are not a house. They are not a sovereign. They are a mining corporation interested in profit, nothing more.
