While I completely agree that it is indeed ooRP for most traders to act suicidal, I wonder if that response in itself isn't also indicative of a different issue (disclaimer: I play both pirate and trader roles myself):
Isn't there a point in which a pirate demand becomes unreasonable enough that the player playing the trader has a right to be annoyed? Can the fact that our interactions in game should mostly be measured within RP parameters actually erase the fact that we're actual people dealing with one another? I mean, fair play has nothing to do with hardcore role play, but people still have a desire for it to be observed.
My point is: Even though it is indeed ooRP for a trader to deny paying any amount in exchange for his life, while it is perfectly in RP for a pirate to ask for everything the trader has; isn't it lack of sportsmanship from the pirate to make too high a demand or even pick on a trader? Even more important, isn't it ooRP for a player role playing a pirate character to charge more or less based on the player's perception of trading as in actively pursuing to disrupting 'power trading' through overpriced and/or overly active piracy?
