Well, we shouldnt let a game limitation hamper RP..

Well, in this big discussion about what is and is not oorp, I have seen several people use npc behavior to say whether something is oorp or not. The problem of course is that the people forget that npc's do lots of stupid stuff. I see npc battleships run into the planet all the time. NPC's shield run, npc's do stupid stupid things. Lets think about the npc interactions with Trent, mind you it has been long time since I played SP so some of the things are a bit hazy. Somehow when Trent goes to this place or that place, many many ships pop up in his way to stop them, like somehow they knew he was coming. That makes a bit of sense that if the LSF had specific information they would deploy a trap, but the fact that we seem to think that Dreadnoughts are a dime a dozen is crazy. Three Dreadnought to stop a fighter? That makes no sense, none at all. Can you imagine the US Navy moving three Battleships to stop a dope smuggler? Aside from the fact that these Battleships are deployed places and have tasks that they already do, you cant just move them at the drop of a hat, these things take time. Thing is that people seem to think that there are all these Dreadnought waiting to just drop out of thin air on people is just silly.



The fact of the matter when it comes down to it is that many of the rules we have can be considered oorp, but the reason they are there is to improve gameplay experience for everyone. Some things that are in rp make for bad gameplay and thus we have rules against it. When we start the game and click online play, there is a message that sums this up pretty well.





Discovery is a bit different than SP with different rules, try to remember.
