not really. You make less profit but it would still be a nice profit.. say if you sell all the cargo that a "Running" trader lose when destroyed.. you will make 2 mil at the least which comes out an average piracy fee

Pirate cargo transport space as opposed to train, not to mention transportation time, time that is spent not pirating.

Furthermore, none of my runs at 4980 cargo require me to input two million minimum. (Perhaps I am not doing the same runs as you however.)
