Ok, make sure you have the mod 'activated' in freelancer mod manager (select the 4.82 mod then click activate mod.) then close FLMM.

then start FL, on the main menu select multiplayer, select internet, then you get a list of servers. The servers highlighted in blue are the ones that are running the mod you have activated, double click to join.
