Re: Components to Naha
A couple of days ago we completed our routine hull repair on MikumaMaru at Planet Honshu. Given our next haul of plutonium containers were not released from the Safety Inspection Agency (SIA) and most likely not available for a few days. I decided to send a few crew members on much deserved 2 day holiday passes and then skip down to Naha with the remaining crew. Naha's procurement agent sent a comm desperately asking for part components and offered Skyblast turrets to replace my two old remaining transport pop guns on MikumaMaru's bow. We loaded up and cruised through Honshu without event.
Once at the Sigma-13 JG we swept the LR scanners just in case. My nav officer reported a single blip with an IFF named Job. I punched up our GMG database and bingo! Looks like our leader Hastings had a little run in with this clown. Hastings mentions, "This was the first of many displays of the most ridiculous amount of cowardice I have ever seen." Of course nothing is simple, not even a short run to Naha. So here I am with limited crew and not a single GMG escort in scanner range. What I didn't like is the LR scanners revealed a hull mass similar to Hastings report, a gunboat class vessel. So minimizing the risk I jump into Sigma-13 via the back door JH 15k out, figuring the typical lack of intelligence based on Hastings report. Sure enough I was correct, we cruised safely up within 10k of Naha then the scanners beamed a bogey named Job.
So right in front of Naha (within 1k) there sits a gunboat named Job pirating lawful transports. Watching the situation for a few minutes it seems he has Naha's turrets damaged, pirating a single small transport, and has two fleeing transports docked at Naha to boot. What I would have given for two bombers about right now... ok now he's coming straight at me. I offer a comm for him to clear out of Naha space, I get a mumbled reply, "this my spot at nana". Ok Hastings was right about ridiculous; I take MikumaMaru through the Chugoku JH and see if I can beat him at his own game. I wait for about five of the longest minutes and he never jumped to pursue... snap! I guess Hastings and Hatsumi taught him a lesson. So I order my helm to transition back to Sigma-13. A few seconds later after the Timshinko tunnel effect, theres Job back at Naha fishing for helpless transports. Now I am perturbed... I want those Skyblast turrets.
Then out of nowhere, an Outcast gunboat transitions from the TL at Naha station. The Outcast IFF was emitting Zamfir on a heavily armed Rogue gunboat. Normally this is a sure sign for transport skippers to clear out at full engines plus a prayer. However in this case, Zamfirs Captain started to question the pilot in Job on his true allegiance and how he acquired the Corsair gunboat. So I decided to watch this encounter from 8k and kept my cruise engines on full standby. After a few probing inquiries from Zamfir the pilot in Job fired his battle razer cannon and hit Zamfirs port side. The two gunboats engaged and ended up thrusting away from Naha as they tangled cannon fire. I acknowledged the gunboats position via comm to the stranded transports, they were away at full speed within minutes. After a few more minutes Zamfir destroyed the Corsair gunboat and cruised away like nothing out of the ordinary happened. He did mention something like, Teach you Corsair to offer offensive against me. Well lucky for my crew and MikumaMaru we enjoyed a nice landing and turret refit at Naha. Maybe some Outcasts have a residue of humanity after all.
