Why does everyone hate the Phantoms... well... lets see:
- you got your stuff, but it's wildly overbuffed
- you're the faction with the most pvp freedom on the server
- you use that freedom to it's biggest extent
- Phantom RP barely even fits into the Freelancer universe (unlike Nomads and Coalition to quote a few) making it seem forced to many
- you tend to powergame (Outcast and Corsair nations both running scared of you? whoa...)

I think these are the main reasons why Phantoms get flamed. I also think suggestions were made to perhaps have Phantoms put RP before PvP by throwing away the ridiculous diplomacy of "Lawfuls - Hostile, Unlawfuls - Friendly" and try to play factions against each other, or otherwise gain some sort of support across Sirius for a concealed, sinister goal. After all, there is a reason why many people call the Phantoms an admin approved uber-pvp squad...

To contribute to the topic: The Phantoms shouldn't have a noticable edge above anyone else. Their weapons should be the same as other standard level 9 faction guns, the fact that the ships are overpowered as it is should be enough for now.
