I received a communication from home today. My sister sends word of Mom's passing. She had been ill for some time.

Grief hits me, and yet something loosens within my heart, as if a knot has been untied. Since father's passing I have always yearned to return home, to live that simple life of excellence, the spirit of Bushido. I've not had the nerve to let those thoughts linger, and quickly swallow them down and away with the shot of liquor.

...I need time to work through all of this, some place to plan my next move. Time is like a running river, it is right there in front of you, and yet it comes at you, and moves away from you so swiftly. It's hard to jump in that river and get moving again, but at the same time if you don't, it all moves away from you.

I'd like to get busy. I need to work, it will help me pass the time. The last thing I need right now, I imagine, is to stop off at the Luxury Liner and spend a few creds for a lovely night with my two best friends wine and women....
