Thing is when you fire that missile, and it hits... You get damage that drops with range... at maximum range it falls to about 0. So you have ships that take 60% damage and ships that take 20% damage from the same missile. Right now things were balanced with small blast radius in mind (around 100) so you take out individual turrets, not all at once... Also this is good for protecting fighters from giant blast radius, Imagine 2 cruise missiles with 400m blasts, hitting a cap near a fighter... Insta death for the fighter. Plain and simple... It can be done, but that really hurts.
