salvager has 400k/40k gb powerplant.

The added 3k drain of the biggest shield equals to about one extra gb turret constantly firing.
So yes it has a bit less energy than other gbs, because it's not a GB.:)

It actually has more armor than gbs as well as much bigger cargo hold.

As long as the little quirk has been noticed and is actually intended, that's cool. It's a unique ship and plays host to a variety of unique problems. Just have to make sure they're all intended problems and not design oversights is all.

I love mine to death. You can come bomberize it sometime. :D

I have seen a few of them around, with 4 cerbs and 2 missiles... and I was wondering how nuts the pilots were.

And it's never been said that the Junker faction attracts the most pvp-savvy pilots. Yeesh.
