i vote "aye" for a reduced punishment - a warning. the full punishment is inappropriate in my opinion. in times of freedom, a rigid chain of order and command is a neat thing to have - in times of war... though, matters can change within seconds - seconds that cost lifes. - a captain is not promoted to captaincy cause he follows orders blindly - but he is promoted to that rank cause he actually thinks of orders and interprets them.
if a captain sees the necessity to act against his orders - but for the good of us all against a common foe - it would be a poor sign to punish him for that... for all we know ... there might be a situation where the orders misjudged a situation and a captain that actually had his brain turned on would have saved the situation.
a warning must be done - the captain must know that he acted against the order chain, a vital and crucial element of the military structure. - but we should not discourage our personel from thinking situational about orders. what good is a captain that is a mere puppet then.
