not a single person knows what the term "powertraders" actually means. - oh, everyone has a vague idea of what it means to him/her - but there isn t a single definition of that term.

but in one thing - we re all united - we all think that "powertrading is bad" - ( whatever it may be ). when its powertrading for one person - another person might think of it as intense RP - who s right, who is wrong?

furthermore, there is no difinition of what is a healthy proportion when it comes to shiptypes, optimization etc. - again, everyone has a different point of view. - no one can tell if having 50% of all transports on the entire server being zoner whales is bad or good. it might be bad for one person - but another person might say ... "thats how it ought to be".

when it comes to supplies and traderoutes in general. - who can say that a zoner "would not make the occasional trip to new london to pick up luxory food" - and to be a bit more efficient than a small transporter - of course, they send in the biggest they got, cause whats more risk - making two journeys with a medium sized transport through the edgeworlds? - or making one single tour with a large transport.

it just shows that whatever is decided is purely subjective. - zoners are a heterogenous and diverse community who s only common denominator is to have left the core systems to live in the outskirts. - that doesn t really mean that they don t go shopping in the big city.

you find many people that buy a house and settle outside the big cities, cause they don t like the noise, the crowdiness etc. - but these people still get in their car every now and then to drive into the city.

now - the new ID proposal disallows it ( or rather .. .labels it to be "bad RP" ) - "driving into the city" can still be done with a normal zoner ID... - however - it will force players ( those that don t have countless accounts ) to create a cloned zoner IDed char - maybe even of the same identity/name.

right now - i do somewhat agree with the changes ( having talked about it on skype ) - but i still have my doubts about it. - i would like it to run on probation for a months of two. - if things get better and the players do not suffer from it - its fine and can stay. - if things don t get better - or if players suffer from it ... it should go.

decisions shouldn t always be made with a definite "yes" or "no". - nothing speaks against "trying it out" first - nothings lost to run it on trial for a time and see what it turns out to be.
