I would like to install a version of Ubuntu, or something, just to see how it is. It would be on a second partition, dual booting with Vista.

So I'd like to know, is Ubuntu the only or best version of Linux that is free?

What are the pros and cons of Ubuntu vs Windows, why is it better or worse?

Dual booting with Vista is possible... right? I did Xubuntu with XP on my old, now broken, laptop a couple years ago, but I can't remember much.

Just give me some Linux/Ubuntu info here... the biggest point of me doing this is for fun and to learn a bit about Linux. I just need a foothold to get started.

Anyone?
