Power supplies - read all please

Simple question: have you ever run short on power while fighting in a large ship? Weapon power I mean.

Everything's fine in my Mining Ship, the standard turrets use no power.

(One thing I have noticed though is that the shield drains quickly after only a few hits. The armored transport could take a lot more hits with the same shield. I don't know why this is, maybe something to do with the size of the ship?)
