Personal Log of Commodore Mark Stevenson

Finally, Richard managed to get the power core back to full capacity and the ion engines up and running again. The research facility is going to take much longer to repair however. We were waiting upon a delivery of new computer chips and what-not from the Nevadas support ship (LNT-Nevada-AI) when a Freelancer managed to spot us on the edge of her scanner range. Alyson Lear was her name and after a lengthy discussion with her, I decided to let her ship dock with the Nevada in the hope of expanding our research data. Well, thats what I told the scientists I just wanted to sit down in the bar and have a chat with her.

Soon after she boarded with her team of scientists, they were frisked for weapons and we escorted them around the ship. Carter was eager to show them all the new laboratories and have the scientists share their research with her As fascinating as sitting around a bunch of computer was, I thought itd be better to have a little drink. Alyson was thinking the same thing, and so we slinked off to the bar.

I was hesitant to leave the scientists with Carter; I knew shed get attached to them and Alyson would never see them or their research again. Luckily I had a sprightly Lieutenant and his team watching her and the scientists the whole time.

Alyson and I talked for a while in the bar as I drank down a few cold ones, she seemed a little concerned that the drinks were free I suppose shes use to paying for everything out here. Just as we were happily chatting away, Commander Kiley interrupted us over the intercom Something was awry. Apparently a dark matter cloud had sprung out of no-where and was heading directly for Delta. We had to cut short the chat as Alyson made a dash for her ship. Running along side her, I told her the carrier bay wasnt able to block the harmful effects of the dark matter, as theyd both been heavily damaged in the nomad encounter. She seemed fine with it and told me to keep the two scientists safe on board, as there wasnt enough time to get them down here to board. She rushed into the cockpit and I waved as the cargo bay door on the explorer hissed and then sealed shut. I wouldve watch her fly off, but I had to get the ship prepped and ready for the incoming bombardment. Carter met me half way as I ran to the bridge Which reminds me: I have to work out more in the Gym. Anyway, Carter met me half way and she was babbling on about how dark matter forms, then eventually we made it to the bridge and I made sure Alyson docked at the Freeport before we activated the cloak.

Apparently Dr. Martin will be able to provide us with her whereabouts But hes been hidden away in the chemical analysis facility for some time now with Carter and the rest of the scientists down there

Well, after the dark matter wave passed through, we checked that all our systems were working and moved out to Omicron Kappa. Carte was especially excited of this sector because it had a high concentration of something called muon radiation. Before she could fully explain it to me, Kiley alerted me to a message being received from an unknown source:

Kiley started the message encryptor and we responded by stating that our research was to continue.

After only a few minutes in Kappa, the same people who had contacted us before were present in the sector and now Kiley was sure it was the Order.

Once again, the Order didnt listen and sent out patrols looking for us. At first, Carter found this quite annoying, as she wanted to get a closer look at the two almost identical planets in the sector; Planet Gammu and Planet Primus. The Navy had portrayed these Order folk as brutal terrorists, who quite some time ago destroyed the RNC-Donau in Manhatten orbit for no particular reason. I didnt get that vibe from them however. They seemed concerned for me and my crews safety against the nomads and were also curious of the Nevadas ship signature Apart from that, they had no murderous ambitions.

After a rather long chat with the two Captains: Orillian and Ophidian, the ship was scheduled with a mandatory scan for breeches in security. As such, comms systems were shut down and the ship was cloaked.

I have a feeling this wont be the last we hear from these Order fellas.
