[A testimonial of sorts for something brilliant that needs some publicity]
As a neophyte to this particular forum, I undertook the daunting task of attempting to fit into it all and figure it out by myself. Needless to say, or perhaps I already said it, this was indeed a daunting task.
Luckily for me, some official-looking fellow posted on my introduction thread and pointed me to something brilliant of his own creation - the Skype Discovery Assistance Channel. I was actually rather surprised to find so few people actually using it, as it was a rather good idea, I found. They helped me with my problems that I had. Which were, namely, the facts that Freelancer wouldn't work and I didn't know anything at all about Discovery.
Both were soon remedied, and I started playing the game.
At this point, many other questions raised themselves, and I'm afraid that I kept the lot of the fellow in the help channel on their toes asking what must have seemed like silly questions about the game. Through it all, though, I learned a lot about the game, how it works, how to play, and what it is like. I've also interfaced into the community, or a small part of it, at least, through the channel. You can see that I haven't posted on the forums an incredible amount - but despite this, I've already found my place (or what seems like it) here and I'm quite comfortably settled at the moment, except for this hiatus I'm supposed to be on at the moment...
Curse incidental wireless.
But, as closing remarks:
This channel is almost a must-join for any new member to this community.
This channel can help you meet people without using the forums.
The people in this channel are very knowledgeable and can solve most of your "wut can tehy actualy do tat?" questions with ease. Or at least mine, I'm sure yours will look much more intelligent than that.
This channel can also waste your time in a most satisfactory way.
