On the other hand, people shouldn't be expected to pre-emptively predict these things. No where on the ship description does it say "you need an AI ID". Yes, a lot of us know better and research the ships that we intend to buy. However, those that don't get caught out, through no fault of their own, and lose a large sum of credits.

To prevent other instances of this, I would agree that such a restriction for the AI cruiser needs to be either:
- Dropped or,
- Clarified on the AI ships, since people do not have access to the AI ID unless they use programs such as Datastorm and FLStat.

I agree that you don't simply go out and buy a ship that you like the look of ingame. However, again, this is something that we all do when we're excited, and I wouldn't blame anyone for doing this when they're new and want to try out everything.
