It is bad luck for you. I did a lot of missions in Gamma, Minor and around, and I had never problems with other players. I do some metagaming trick before I take mission - I look who is in the system - to avoid problems.
A few times I saw hostile player on radar during mission, but always they lived me alone. One time a player wanted to pvp, I asked him (//..) whether he could kindly wait a while and he went away.
This is sever full of people, and you can not play alone, there is always risk to meet someone who want pvp only. This is part of this game.
