need feed back on a char idea

ok, here's the go. I want to base a character around the slave liner ship without acctually bienging a slaver. He will do lawfull trade routes and have an interspace commerce ID. his RP story is as follow's:

Name: Cook
Age: 21

Background: Born on planet Leeds Cook's family had to work hard for every credit that they earn't his father worked in the docks repairing damaged ships and his mother worked in the local horpital. They could hardly feed themselves let alone a baby so they gave him to a tradeing ship captain who the had befriended many years ago. Little did Cook know but from that day foward he would learn the tricks of the tradeing bussiness and become very rich indeed. When he was old enough and had enough money he purchased a mammoth frieghter from liberty space and set out to make his own money. He followed the old captains route and quickly built up credits. As his fortune grew he found that his ship was now to small and he had to upgrade. His mind flicked back to what his family had lived like and decided that he needed a ship that isn't expensive and has a large cargo hold. He decided upon an old slave liner that he had heard about, the junkers ofered it to him at a very cheap price as they were only goning to melt it down. He accepted and made his way to the junkyard.

So what do think so far. I need feedback please and suggestions on how to make it better.
