Guten Tag, Herr Oberst!
My name is Otto von Barring, from New Berlin, and the men in my family have a tradition of serving the Rheinland Military as officers, even from the times of the Imperial Navy. This tradition goes a long way in our aristocrat family.
However, I do not share my father's or grandfather's views of military obedience of rules and orders as keeping your officer's honor regardless of the nation's ruler. I know the men in my family died in vain for the corrupt government, being deceived by them. My ideal is to free the Fatherland from this plague.
I graduated as a naval officer. When my views on politics became clear after I refused to obey a direct order in harming innocent civilians labeled as terrorist, there was an attempt to "silence" me. That's when I fled to Liberty and used my family's accounts there to get whatever ship I could find and travel back under a false identity. I've set up a ship and found a bed on Vogtland, trying to remain under the Rheinland authorities' radar.
I will understand if you do not wish to accept me within your ranks. After all, I come from the enemy's side. But if you will accept me, I will do my best to help achieve our mutual goal. I understand my rank no longer applies and, to be honest, I don't need it anymore. I am not very skilled in a fighter, as I followed the tradition of being a captain of larger ships, but I can hold my own. I am eager to prove myself to you, so the Hessian Tears are my option, should you choose to put your trust in me.
