/oorp ive seen a couple of juicy little areas of space that are easy to guard, 3 systems and only 2 ways in..its one of those my guys will be fighting for, im trying to wrap a sensible plot around why a faction would want to do this,

I'm getting the feeling that you intend to make a faction so that you can claim "ownership" of part of Sirius...

...I would suggest that you come up with some RP that is new and different, but at the same time rooted in what we already have, then, if that leads to laying claim to a region of space, so be it...but don't use that as a primary goal.
