There is only one field in all universe that makes big profit. The rest of them are only boring. The same time you can make 5-10 times bigger money by trading. (the trade risk is not so big. Statistical I am pirated every 5th route. So it makes not more than 4% of my incomes. If you mine, you are easy target for pirate).

No one around to interact with? Must be a timing thing, because our little DSE crew has on several occasions been hounded by Xenos (even a xeno mining ship!), Hackers, Rogues, and several strange indy pirates. Even a Harvester showed up at one point to harass our mining operation. On the same note, we've been able to call in Navy and police patrols to save us several times. Come to think of it, there actually hasn't even been a quiet mining run for us. YaHoo! I don't mean to boast (okay maybe a little) but I'd say about 60% of my Mastodon was funded by mining only the Silverton.
I may suggest to all the miners out there, you may just not be presenting yourself in a way to attract attention. Maybe some system chat announcements of your activity, or even a "juicy name" might lure some desperately needed unwanted attention. Or, if you're looking for a good time, hit us up with an application on our DSE comm page, we're actually short on miners as it is.
