You know, for some reason I always see these types of threads as nearsighted on both sides. Good pirate RP is an art, one which I think I lost, a little bit, but an art none the less. The balance between making sure you can get people to stop and get them before the police show themselves while still maintaining decent RP is hard to do, especially in places like Liberty, where everyone and their mother wants a piece of you. On the other hand, mastering trader RP is also hard to achieve. Traders have to walk a fine line between when they can run, and when they are forced to pay. It's honestly one of the hardest roles in the game to play successfully and I hold the opinion that 98% of the server has no clue how to do it right.

Now, onto my retorts:

[6.19] Pirates have a right to deal as much damage as they see fit before or after demanding money from a trader ship, but killing trader ship before demanding money or cargo is not allowed.

This is a rule I will always take to heart. If I want to RP someone who wants to make sure his targets are scared, I'm going to do so with my guns. I have the guns, I can use them. Does this mean I don't RP because I drain trader's shields when I demand they stop to make sure they know I can back up my threats? Heavens, no, RP is the paramount concern of playing on this server. If a trader stops, then RP ensues. Does one shot really cause such a large problem? I still RP, and you still RP. It's like, holy crap, I scared you into stopping.

Sincerely suggest you don't start firing on a trader as soon as he shows. Makes them panic on one side, and it's a pain in the arse to those traders who weren't planning on fleeing. Besides, you can easily finish the jackass off within the time it takes for the lawfuls to show, or as Sindy said you can claim hostage.

If you aren't planning on fleeing, you can take a hit, and lose your shields. You're still stopped and the pirate still wants to talk. I don't understand the problem. I mean, does one shot constitute OoRP?

Take out my shield and I will donate less.

Scratch my hull, so that even one nanobot needs to be used, your going to find 4980 units of cargo floating around you.

Nice tunnel vision. What is wrong with firing on someone to ensure that they know your character is a jerk? I don't understand, again. You're stopped, and the pirate still wants to talk. What is the problem?

Heh, if you RP out your character well and the trader is RPing as well (aka interaction between trader-pirate lasts longer than 10minutes, involving more than just talk about money) then I don't think you should tell the pirate you'd rather die than pay him, just because you lost your shield.

I like this guy. He speaks truth. If the pirate shoots first, and RPs, what is the problem? Some pirates are pissed as hell, understandably. We all have causes and whatnot to support or fulfill, and if we want to express that, what is wrong with it?

When I'm pirating, if the guy doesn't halt when CD'd/disrupted, I'm not going to be a nice pirate.

I like this guy too. He speaks truth. I'll give a tip about getting away from pirates: It's all about standing still. If you act like you're going to cooperate, the pirate will be more willing to cooperate. You can talk, chat, and whatever, at which point you can call the cops while stalling for whatever reason. What happens then? You get away. Running is never the answer to a semi-competent pirate. In any event, it will probably just piss both parties off.
