' Wrote:when both pilots have a lower skill - the gunship wins
when both pilots have average skills - its a 50 / 50
when both pilots are aces, the bomber wins
reasons for that:
lower skills - the weaponstats for velocity are very important and the sustained "spray and pray". a bomber vs. a small gunship at low skill will miss a lot of its high-damage shots, not cause the gunship is dodging, but cause its simply moving and a low skill pilot needs to get used to quick-weapon-changes to adjust their targetting.
average skills means that both are dodging - but the powers of the smaller and more agile ship grow un-proportionally to the skill increase. - a dodging bomber is harder to hit than a dodging gunboat while the damage both can do to each other is more or less similar.
an ace bomber will be able to snipe the gunship from a distance where the gunship cannot really respond. - the dodging of the bomber makes it almost invulnerable and it can utterly dictate the combat due to its much greater agility and speed.
edit:
keep in mind that this does NOT mean that an ace bomber is better than an ace gunship! - a gunship performs more tasks than simply killing bombers - it can also support in larger battles and do tasks bombers aren t really suited for. - a gunship is invulnerable to a light fighter for example, no matter of the LF skill. - a bomber is not.
TY!!! who is to say which pilot is better till the encounter... Polaris gets an entire libby armada after him...
sometimes he wins against all, sometimes he dont. Ive watched it happen.
Glad I started this thread :)
