Upgradable ship ideas

This idea was lingering around for a while now, armor has given us much fun and grief. So why not give us some more?

So, you go into your ship dealer. Wohoo! Let's by an Avanger vhf for...300 000? lolwut?

Allright, so it turns out, currently it has a starflyer powerplant. Ohnoz. Class 1 shield. lolwut?

Lets go to the dealer. Oh, cant mount a better shield, lets buy a power core upgrade comodity.

Whee, now I can mount the shield and weapons.

I undocked and the once brick now handles like a LF!

Wait. The hell? 3 000 armor? Lets buy the upgrade. Whee, back to normal armor, but now it turns like a brick. Darn.




So basically, the idea is to start out with shait, which is open to costum settings depending on your fighting style, rather than get the biggest pewpew weapons and ding ding armor.

There are flaws, however, like, you can still mount missiles on a vhf with lf handling, but its just one of those quick ideas.
