When I pirate I always type everything out in /l.
I don't even know how to set messages.
Better keep it that way I think.

Same here. If your typing speed and accuracy is high enough there is no point to it. (Unless of course you are doing it for the cash or the kill message.)

(High enough meaning that you can type fast enough whilst dodging hostile NPC fire and other distractions.)
