I dunno, I'm a terrible teacher. But I do know a bit about formatting spreadsheets. My advice would be to build it with microsoft excel and then upload it once you have the foundations. Once uploaded, it can be edited on google docs, but it's much easier to build them in excel than on google docs.

Also, I think a lot of information on your spreadsheet is missing. For example, every faction can use civilian ships, several factions like to share their ships (like Order and Corsairs used to) but you've only listed what ships belong to each faction. It feels more like a list of ships categorized by their producers, rather than a list of who can use what ship.
