Actually Role Playing

Someone just brought up a topic which was banned as it wasn't articulated very wisely...I'll quote them sans the expletive here.

man every thread these guys post in they will find one thing to turn your hard work into a Flame Fest

His topic was admin intervened for the colorful and negative phrasing but his point was lost I think. It seems to be a newer player and I think he is frustrated at how difficult it is to get positive interaction with his role play (hopefully he plays better than he posts). I do want to follow up on his post as he actually brings up a good point. In this week alone I have been pmed on forum by more than one person regarding my current RP (which is just actually starting--its been concept up to now). Things like:

"I don't agree with it so I don't knoo-ooow..."
"That's not how I see that developing."
"Some of us were talking on skype and a lot of them don't think its a good idea."
(*These are paraphrases of actual comments in-game and on forum.)

Hmmm.

I could say, "Well of course the community should have a say and I should listen to them" (I do actually) but there is another point...barring going off into completely counter-Disco realities (aliens with planet-killers, mind-controlling super-humans, supernatural deities, etc,) but that isn't my point.

Role play is personal--meaning you create it and play it and then the response to it should determine if it "works"...and by "response" I mean in-game role play response. Some things might be addressed privately on the forum but as a rule and almost without exception, game play should approve or disapprove.

Now here is what I see from many vets quite often (since I've been here) and this is an actual event:

ME: "I am Tinkerbell, Ambassador."
OTHER: "Ahoy Tinkerbell--who made you an ambassador?"
[PM: //You know three official factions must recognize and you must post on forum or you aren't one. Name the three factions that approve you and I will interact.]
ME: ...
(actually I did carry on--but you get the idea)

Other example as a Hogosha long ago:
OTHER: What are you doing at the Leeds-Tau gate Hogosha?
ME: Serving the Emporer by relieving these cursed Bretonian freighters of their war goods gaijin!
OTHER: //You know this isn't your ZOI. Did you request to come here? Who approved it? Why a Hogosha?
ME: ...

This happens all the time. Would the real role players please stand up and quit playing in-game as moderators and actually play as players? This extends to the forums too. There is no need to dump a subjective opinion on someone as a judgment of their role play--comment yes, judge-demand, no
...and please, stop "//" me opinions in-game.

What another person plays is mostly not our business--our responsibility is to rp a response to it. This isn't D&D and you aren't the GM.
