Um, I'm a noob at this game (1 crapola Bret ship, level 25 and counting), granted, but that gives me some perspective with the way people play here. Seems to me about a dozen (or so) people play the mod game to the nth (mega-maximum) degree while the rest just are happy pottering about doing Freelancer-ish things.
Me, I'm just trying to scrape together a half million to buy a more-reasonable heavy fighter than I have, never mind owning half a dozen different BSs and Nomad-Shadow (hmmm.... nice idea) hybrid fighters outfitted with 12 Mystic Death Cannons of Doom and being Deputy Sponge Lifter Assassin General for the Great Ewok people faction of the Thingy System. :)Hell, I don't understand half the TLR (three letter acronyms) you guys are using... but this message goes out to certain people who really need to get a life outside of this game - seriously... lighten up guys!
A few comments about honour: we aren't all suicidal Klingons with strange honour-guilt complexes that would give Freud a headache. Those who wish to win fights (and I am assuming that if one gets into a fight, one's intentions are to win or, at least, survive) must embrace all possible avenues of doing so. Any tactic is valid when both sides can use it, surely - or the game mechanics themselves are f-fruitcaked. ie, shield running seems a valid thing to do as the game rules allow it and anyone can do it. While your Evil Foe is running for a dock, why not brew some calming herbal tea? Disenguage and call it a draw? Challenge said Evil Foe to an areana style battle (some System or other is set up for that, right?). ;)
[whoops, call to end thread made before I finished writing this - yeah, end this sillyness now! Try going out and meeting girls.... Ahem, sorry - Red Dwarf influences showing there. ;-) ]
