I was contacted earlier today by Captain Hatsumi, who was shadowing a pirate IDed Corsair Gunboat by the callsign of Job. I rendezvoused with him at the Honshu jumpgate, as the vessel in question had jumped systems once he observed that he wasn't alone. This was the first of many displays of the most ridiculous amount of cowardice I have ever seen.
We pursued into Honshu, with Kasugai leading the charge. We came into contact with him again, ordering him to vacate the area, but instead he fired with no warning on my bomber, jumping back to Sigma-13 immediately. We, of course, jumped in after the pirate, and I demanded an explanation as to why I was fired upon. He expressed his clear disregard for my queries, and jumped yet again into Honshu. This was becoming ridiculous.
The increasingly irritating practice of making a u-turn after each jump continued for some time, and we decided early on to sit on either side of the gate, dealing as much damage as we could separately.
The idea began well enough, and I was able to drop the pirate's shields before he made the jump back into Honshu. I once again notified Kasugai that he was en route back to Honshu, hoping that he might be able to dispose of the pirate quickly before he knew what was coming. Unfortunately, Job recovered his shielding and was able to break through Hatsumi's dragnet, fleeing to the New Tokyo jumpgate. I joined him and we made our way after this troublemaker. There was no way he would get away with his disgrace towards the Guild.
Strangely enough, the bloke still had pirating on mind, holding up a trader at the New Tokyo gate.
Thankfully, this gave us time to make up the lost distance between us, and we quickly came in range with our pirate once more. Predictably enough, he dropped it all and fled through the New Tokyo jumpgate once he saw us coming. As there was no lawful presence overtly active within the system, we decided to give chase into New Tokyo.
We pursued him through the gate, and noticed he had taken off down a tradelane. Following behind, scanners abruptly showed his vessel coming in the opposite direction, and back towards the gate. Bloody hell! He jumped back to Honshu, we followed, he jumped back into New Tokyo, and Kasugai stayed on the Honshu side, taking up our previous tactic. My head was starting to throb from all of the jumpgate use, I cannot imagine how this can be good for you.
Back in New Tokyo, I attacked the hostile with everything I could, as fast as I could. I dropped his shields, and dealt a devastating blow to his hull before he could jump again. Due to his heavy damage, I stuck to him, following him back into Honshu. He hadn't a chance to escape this time, and after dropping his shields and dealing another powerful blow to his hull, Captain Hatsumi landed the finishing blow to the annoyance. Good riddance.
I'm docked for repairs on Yukawa Shipyard at the moment. Job had managed to land a few potshots on my bomber during his docking procedures, and it looked like a shot or two had made it past shields. On an slightly unrelated note, after tractoring in the remnants of the pirate's hold, I found an ONYX class prototype weapon in my cargo, with only low damage done to it. A few of the workers on the Yukawa are examining it now. It may be a good idea to store it on the armory vessel once it's in working order.
