"Right. I'm here because I got a card from a guy, uh, it's got your outfit's name on it...I guess you want a little more than that?
Uh, right. Can I fly? I mean, you're not going to write a poem about it but I'm not going to embarrass anybody. I can paint a target up pretty good if they give me half a chance. I mean it's not like I can take on an army by myself but who can, right?
Yeah, so how'd I get the card, right? It's not so much of a card as it is a piece of paper with your stuff written on it. Guy on Sheffield handed it to me after seeing me in space apparently. Man was pretty vague about it and left right after, but I chased it up, because in all honesty I didn't have a lot going on. Got out in space when I was 19. Scraped for a hand me down Piranha and figured I'd do a little freelancing. Pays better than working in a shop, right? Plus I'm my own boss. But it's damn hard going. Throwing my life on the line for some mope who's bounty barely covers my repairs. Been doing it for years now and well, I'm behind on my rent, my diet is terrible and I can't afford to date. Something had to change or my life was going to play out quickly, blandly and unpleasantly. So when I get passed the card with your details on, I go for it. I know about you guys - I mean who doesn't right? I figure working on retainer, for a firm - that's really going to help my situation. I can like, grow in this environment, you know what I mean? My skills, my gear, my bank balance, my reputation. So that's me. Now you, right? Why should you take me? I mean yeah it's not like I'm some hotshot ace, but like I said, I'm not bad. And I've been working hard in the same line of work for almost no reward, so you know I'm gonna be motivated. Also I'm not particularly fond of dying, which is sure as hell a motivator in this racket.
Just uh, give me the chance and I'll make me a sound investment for you guys, you've got my guarantee on that.
Name's Joe Mizerk, by the way. Bret by birth, resident too right now. 24 years old but I've been around a bit don't worry. Right."
