Though recruitment was said previously here to have been closed, we should have gotten back to you at least saying so..//



Nickolas Hargreaves walked through the long corridors of South Shields Refinery, stopping at a plain-looking wooden door, locked by an old Earth-era deadbolt lock.

“My my..” Hargreaves muttered, looking for any signs that someone else had passed by here at any reasonable time.

His comment was not about the age and style of the lock, or how much the door would have cost the guild, considering wood as a building material was rare and expensive. Instead it was towards the several application forms stuffed haphazardly underneath it, despite a sign reading ‘Recruitment Temporarily Closed’.

Well, I guess there’s no use just leaving them there.. Hargreaves thought to himself, and began to search through the set of keys the station master gave him. After finding the corresponding key for the recruitment office door (which also happened to be the oldest in the set) and picking up the mass of papers, he let himself inside.

Thankfully, the room was a lot more modern than the door implied, sporting a synth-leather chair and grey carbon table, fitted with comm unit, terminal and holodisplay. Hargreaves sat himself down and began to reply to the ageing application forms:

My sincerest apologies for the very late reply. The guild has had a few issues recently that required immediate attention, and along with the recent circumstances of our recruitment officer Mr. Davies, unfortunately new applications were pushed aside until just recently..

It is heartening to know that your family has been mining for the IMG previously. However from what you seem to be implying in your application is that you took a different career path until recently when your father passed away (my sincere condolences for your loss). What were you doing for a crust previously might I ask, and why have you chosen to change careers towards mining, other than the procurement of your ship, and could experiences from your previous trade/profession be of use to the guild in other departments? That is, if you are willing to take a position in any department and not just mining.

My name is Kenneth Proven, I'm a new but promising pilot.
When I heard IMG was recruiting I dropped all my other applications,
I already got the experience of mining in convoys, so a long introduction
won't be necessary, if you allow me in your ranks that is.

More about myself, ever since I had my first Starflier I went looking for an
excellent nebula or asteroid-field to fill my cargo with gold, niobium or other
rich metals. Not very long ago I literally flew into a miner's ship, to repay the
man I started working for him. He taught me where and how I should mine and
so I slowly became a miner. The only downside was that he didn't pay me that good,
so after I repayed him for the damage on his ship, I decided to go home and work on
solid ground, at a bank office.

But the itch to fly in space, the freedom of a pilot, returned and now I'm asking
IMG to let me join the ranks as one of their pilots.

I am both surprised you were not hurt after such a freak accident and glad that the event ignited the fire inside you for mining. It is very hard nowadays to find someone with previous mining convoy experience and you having that experience is a very valuable asset. I assume from your application that you do not currently own a ship or at least one suitable to mining? If so that is of no matter. The IMG mining division has always had a credit loan scheme for persons with financial difficulties, offering enough to procure your own mining ship complete with ID beacon and mining equipment. If you are in need of such a scheme just say so and the guild will make the necessary arrangements to help you get into space.

I guess what I am trying to say is.. Welcome to the Guild! That is, if you accept. I understand that after such a long time your wishes and circumstances may have changed, so if you are still interested or perhaps seeking a different position in either defence, exploration or trade, just send a transmission back on this frequency saying so.

Seven Years ago when i was 15 i dreamed of flying as a trader or pirate smuggler. the following year both my parents and my sister were killed by pirates raiding my home system of Leeds. Me and my younger brother Seth weren't on the ship that was destroyed. For two more years i had to keep me and Seth alive by doing random jobs Anything really that would get us some money. Then my uncle Andrew came and took Seth back to New London to take care of him. Now free of all obligations and obviously hating the pirates who killed my family. i Wish to join the IMG. I am now 22 years old, and to the IMG i offer my hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

I am sad to hear that your parents were killed in such a despicable act in open space. There are many among us that have had similar pasts like losing family and loved ones to terrorists, pirates and easily avoidable corporate accidents. If those pirates that took your parents’ lives were Outcasts, then we share a common hatred. If Corsairs.. Well, we try to keep a “don’t bother us and we won’t bother you” mentality, though at times they can be just as bad.

I feel inclined to allow you into the IMG considering your circumstances, however you do not seem to have chosen a desired division to join in your application. We still have limited openings in our trade division so you can follow your teenage dreams. Or, if the pirates were Outcast (or Corsair, you never know if they might stop an IMG convoy) you can dish back some revenge in our defence division. The choice is up to you.

I understand that this responding transmission is sent a lot later than your application submission, and after such a long time your wishes in joining the IMG may have changed. If you are still interested in joining our ranks, just send a transmission back on this frequency saying so, and define which division you would like to go under.

Until recent developments, I have been a fighter pilot witht the Colonial Remnants. After some disciplinary problems, it became necessary for me to leave th CR. I hereby ask for amnesty for me and my family, which are my beloved wife Maria, my brother Archilles, my cousin Epiphane, my cousins 3rd grade Hardy an Laurel, and some more distant relatives.
We run in a long tradition of space-farers, miners, and fighters.
In the case of your willingness to grant us IMG membership, we would add to your fleet:

1: One fully equipt and armoured Nyx Defense-Fighter, minirazor-type setup, Callsign 'Zulu'
2: two fully armoured and equipt Pytho bombers, one cruise-disruptor 'smugglers nightmare' setup, one 'cap killer' setup. Callsign 'Massai' (piloted by my beloved wife Maria) and 'Batwa'
3: The Hydra-Class Gunboat 'Bujumbura', class-7 armoured. The pride of the Coulibali familly, led by captain Archilles Coulibali
4: The IMG ATLAS-Class Freigher 'Tuareg'
5: The Miner 'Ashanti', with complete mining setup.

My professional background is that of a freelancer, then defense fighter in the Colonial Remantn fleet. I have received training form the ace CR instructors Panzer, FLamewing, and SParfeld. My other familly members have long experience in their field of oerations. I wish to join the guild due to current unemployment and becasue I share their ideals. Very much.

I understand the purposes of IMG to be that of an independant guild of miners, who share the wish for independance, mining, guild membership, and accumulation of wealth. For guild friendly purposes.

I bring to the Guild things that that can help it accomplish its purposes. Defense, mining, trading, and accumulation of wealth. Very much waelth. Also independence.

Greetings Mr. Coulibali. I apologise for the late reply – fortunately you are not one of the longest waiting applicants, though we do prefer to try and respond to potential recruits within the space of a week..

Your application has been filled out well and down to the letter, though I have concerns with why the Colonial Remnant, a group we have helped nurture under our wing until recently, would let go of a pilot and his whole family. From what I have heard this is much unlike them, though they have been known to house a set of stern rules. I understand this may strike a raw nerve, but would you like to elaborate on what “disciplinary problems” were encountered? We tend to be a little bit more relaxed, though depending on the of problems experienced we may like to guide or train you further, perhaps to the point where you may consider rejoining the CR once again.

One thing that we do differently to the CR is that we don’t have or assign callsigns, and should you be accepted into the guild upper management would most likely request the modification of your ship transmitters to show your names rather than callsigns.

Secondly, as defence director I can say undoubtedly that regular members are not permitted to pilot capital ships, no matter how experienced those person may be in those particular crafts. Unfortunately that means that the gunboat Bujumbura captained by Archilles Coulibali will not be accepted, though he can still stay as an independent affiliate.

If you still wish to be brought under our wing knowing these conditions, please send back a replying transmission on this frequency saying so and I shall pass the relevant information to the trade and mining directors for them and I to consider.

Hello, this is Raul Ogawa, although most call me Kusoyaro. I come from the Kusari space originally, though my father was a former Corsair, but he had to escape from them, because a pirate falling in love with a Kusari trader was not allowed.

I, myself havent had much luck in life. I have tried my luck in trading many times, but apparently pirates love easy targets without escort. I even once considered a pirate career myself, but apparently the Corsairs havent forgotten about my father yet, and they know he has a son.

Why i chose to join the IMG. I heard from many sources that the IMG offers the best jobs, especially for the aspiring young traders like myself, who would love to learn the knicks of the trade.

I can only offer you my loyalty and un-dying gratitude, if you choose to hire me as one of the hardiest traders/miners of the galaxy.

Quiet a strange place to be born, Keanu originated from Aaland Shipyard. His parents both piloted trader vessel and traveled much around Sirius, trading back and forth. His mother had fonud out she was pregnant with him during these trade routes, and his parents decided that there was no need of them stopping at a planet for nine months to conceive him, as his mother and father loved being in space more than anything else in the world. Born on Aaland Shipyard, Keanu inherited his parent's love for space and began piloting his own ships in no time, at a very young age. After completing missions and small time trading runs, Keanu became a captain of his own trading vessel with a crew, and began bigger trading operations including large sums of money.
My parents have always been part of the IMG, and now that I have my won trading vessel and crew I think it is fitting that I join the IMG. I'm a hard worker and love trading more than anything else, and think that both I could benefit from this and the IMG.
OOC: I'm on vacation for thirty days and was stupid enough to bring my Freelancer disc and not my account information. So, I'm basically starting from scratch from a month. All I have is 5 million on my character, Keanu, and would be very grateful that if I am accepted If I could receive a loan that I will pay back in a week, no more. I have thirty boring days to waste, and I plan on using it on trading and role playing as the IMG.

Hello, my name is Ertran Rogozinski. Some time ago, i tried to find some peace in life, so I taked my savings, bought Minnig Ship and started work as an independent asteroid miner. Fine job, but soon troubles had started... fields that belong to corpoprations, pirates, etc. etc., I think You know those things well. In the end, I started to mining on fields protected by IMG, and got tied with Guild. Now things are getting worse for all of us, and I don't like to sit and wait quietly. If We want to protect our independency, We have to work together, so I decided to offer my services for the Guild. You should know, that I am a former mercenary. I was working few years in a border and edge worlds as a fighter and bomber pilot. If my knowledge and skills will be usefull for You, i am ready to become a member and take responsibility.

It is very unfortunate that you have been having some troubles with pirates and larger companies during your previous expeditions and yes, now is a time more than ever that we must stand together united, with the Outcast in the north, an interhouse war spilling over from the east and south, and now a new lot from the west with unclear intentions.. Things are, like they always have been for us miners, on a knife edge.

Your previous experience as a mercenary is very much of value to us, and I am inclined to place you in the defence department due to our current staffing shortages. However you also say you already have a mining ship, is this correct? If this is so you may prefer to be in mining…

If you would be able to get back to us on this frequency stating which division you would like to be under that would be much appreciated. Also, I would like to know what you understand the purposes of the Independent Miners Guild to be. Although it is a field in the application process, we are a bit flexible and don’t always require it, though I’m just a little curious personally in this particular case. If you don’t feel like obliging me that is fine, and it shouldn’t affect your application in any way. Hargreaves leant back in the chair and let out a sigh of relief. Who would have known that writing a bunch of words would be so tiring?

He admired his handiwork for a few seconds before pressing the “send” button on the holodisplay, and then rolled the desk chair towards the station comm. Unit and plugging in the number for the stationmaster’s office. It only took a couple of rings until the ageing, but still visibly vibrant man picked up the phone.

“Hello there director! What can I do for you today per chance?”
“Greetings. I was wondering if you would be able to arrange for all further recruitment applications to be redirected towards the directors of the division they wish to apply. We currently don’t have an officer to handle the applications from all the divisions here..”
“Certainly sir. So just inform them that there is an application here waiting for them?”
“Umm, yes. They will use this channel to respond to applications, sorry. They’ll just need a reminder to know that there is one here for their department.”
“Very well sir.. You look tired. Are you in need of quarters to rest for the night?”
“Unfortunately I have to be on my way back to the taus for a pressing issue. I’ll have to decline”
“That is unfortunate.. Hope you have a safe trip sir.”

Hargreaves nodded and cut the connection, standing up from the desk and started exiting the room. Before closing and relocking the door and heading to his ship, he put the “recruitment closed” sign from outside into the office and replaced it with a new one:
