Started out as a regular day in the service of the Legion. As in, we got called in to form a swarm by order of Major Tadao.
Anyway, we started off scattered all over the joint, with the RV point above one of the scrap fields in the New York system itself. I finished preparing my Sabre, and launched from Alcatraz in time to meet Hammet in his Sabre at the Ontario hole. We both jumped though, but Hammet hit by a pair of Navy Defender patrols. I dropped back to give him some help, ended up taking out all four of the pricks who were mountin' disrupters, and we both got out of there in time to make it to the party in New York.
We RV'd above the scrap fields near Manhattan with the [HF]-HFB-Libertine under command of Admiral LeBlanc, Major Tadao in his Broadsword, the [HF]-Swooping.Osprey, Mark Grant in his battle-damaged Broadsword, and Jester in his Sabre. Later joining us, was Commander Raisu in his Falchion. Wouldn't fly one of those to save me life, too thin armor.
Anyway, we recieved intelligence that a Liberty Naval Battlecruiser had been sighted. We then begun a short search of the system, starting at above manhattan, moving to Baltimore Shipyards, then finally sighting our target in drydock at Norfolk Shipyards. However, by this time. one of them huge Carriers dropped out of the tradelane right at Norfolk Shipyards, so we pulled back, and started formin' a plan. However, several more fighters, and sub-capitals soon appeared on the side of the corrupt Libertonian Militarized Government.
It was soon decided by us that the LNS-Calypso, the battlecruiser, would go down first to the Broadswords and the Libertine, while us fighters would focus on the Light.Bearer, a Freelancer flying a Kusari-designed Explorer.
However...It didn't exactly end out that way. Battle was joined, and I found my self sitting behind an LSF Pilot called Vixen blastin' away with all I could tryin' to keep her off of Major Tadao. However, Hammet swooped in and blew her ship up with a single pass, after killing his own freelancer Kingfisher target. At this point, the Calypso was just about to go critical--and did so, violently, taking Commander Raisu's paper ship with it.
However, the mighty Libertine couldn't take much more punishment, as it had a massive Carrier, plus a gunboat putting holes in the Spyglass for all they were worth. so with a final broadside, the Libertine retreated back to Vespucci for desperately needed repairs, and we all focuses our attempts on the original targets--Bombers on the Carrier Michigan, fighters on the gunboat Light.Bearer. However, the second freelancer gunboat, one by the name of Ainulindale, decided to take this moment to pick off Hammet, then turn its efforts on Light.Bearer. We didn't like this very much, and proceeded to turn the Ainulindale into such scrap that the Junkers wouldn't take it.
Of course, during all this muck up, the Carrier Michigan decided that Jester in his Sabre would be just the lovely trophy to mount on his mantlepiece, so without a second thought, the Carrier lined up Jester and put paid to his damaged Sabre. Even this wasn't enough for the Carrier, so, moments after Jester was picked up by myself, the Michigan took out Hammet. So now I had three pilots in my hold--Jester, Hammet and Raisu! Fun times.
Eventually, we had our own reinforcements--An Outcast 'Trident' class Gunboat by name of Lee.Evans showed up, dealt MASSIVE damage to the Carrier along with Mark and Major Tadao. Shortly after, the Light.Bearer took a disliking to the Lee.Evans and decided to go teach him how to fly a gunboat properly. Of course, this ended up with poor old Lee sitting in an escape pod bound for Buffalo, but I digress.
Another LSF pilot showed up at this time, and together with the Light.Bearer, decided to put a rather large series of holes in Mark's already scrap-metal Broadsword, so eventually even he was in my party of a hold.
it was just down to me and Major Tadao in his wrecked bomber now, so I shunted half of my repair drones to him in an effort to keep him alive, as I had barely been hit the entire battle, despite my powerplant redlining from firing my weapons so much. I decided that the LSF Guardian pilot simply had to go, as it was strainin' Major Tadao's Broadsword to the limits. However, I was too late to save the Major's ship, and he ejected, and I collected him, too. so now I had pretty much the entire flight wing in my hold, in a Sabre, against a gunboat, a fighter, and a all-but-wreckage Carrier.
Then something surprising happened--The Light.Bearer turned on the LSF pilot, and together, we managed to blow the poor sod up within seconds. I used his explosion as distraction to power my cruise engines and made like a tree and left the area, leaving the irate Michigan to deal with a gloatin' Light.Bearer. I made my way to Buffalo, got the wing rides back to Fort Leniex for replacement ships, set course for Mactan and relaxed in the bar.
All in a days work, eh?
