Absolutely right, and although there is not much that yo can do about it, it does justify the fact the you can kill a pirate in your battleship or cruiser.

I have reads lots of complaints of pirates who where killed by a BS/Cruiser and claim that this is OORP, but i think that your story does explain very clearly why it is perfectly in RP.
