No it's not a cheap move, it's a SMART trick to escape. Stop whining and find a solution to counter the technique.

A cheap move is when you send a Battleship against a Fighter.

Also, we all gave you a clarification, that is not a glitch. Wasn't that your original question? If it was a glitch/haxploit/etc. or a normal move that everyone can do?

Even if nobody told you that it wasn't a glitch, by having multiple players saying they have done it and still do it, then it is most likely a common technique of escape.
