Avoid the pirate havens such as the.... all of new york and cali.

keep an eye out for guys down the lanes, jump out as soon as they come up on scanners (14k) and run in the opposite direction.

Fly a contrans and instill fear in single pirates, even gunboats.

Convoy, just like noob said, it is like a shark attack. You don't have to swim faster then the shark, just faster then the other guy.

find a nice labc/rnc/knf to escort you.
