Today while on patrol, Malta was approached by a Molly Destroyer, the Gaelic, escorting the yacht Hekat. The gentleman on the yacht wished to discuss the feasability of export rights of Cardimine to the Omega systems. I told him that we did not ship down there as the Hessians and others find it...distasteful; also the mobs of Corsairs make such a venture dangerous. However, we were always open to expanding our markets. He told me that he was still interested in the opportunity and had discussed it previously with some of the Reapers. Having no knowledge of this, I advised him to put in an official petition to the Council of Dons to meet a representative. I am just a Naval officer, not a trade delegate. He was quite understanding and asked for mooring rights in Malta. This I granted. However, I asked that his escort moor on Freeport 10, as we do not like capital ships in Alpha that are not under our control. He was understanding and the Gaelic moved off. I do not know if anything will come of this but I thought you should be informed.
Later on my patrol, the newest addition to the fleet, MNS Cassus Belli launched from its ways for space trials. As Alpha was relatively quiet, the gunboat Shadow's Drakh and I made way to Omicron Gamma for a quick hit and run to test the battleships systems. Using the clouds for cover until the last moment, we surprised the Corsair defences and commenced bombardment of Skiros Shipyard, doing major damage. Not wanted to wreck a brand new ship, we left as soon as our surprise was wearing off and proceeded to Theta and Freeport 9. Surprisingly the Corsairs that pursued did not violate the NFZ. After a few minutes of taunting and insults (The Cassus Belli is an aptly named ship for its commander), we again surprised the Corsairs by falling back to the Sigma 17 jumphole in synchronized formation. They half-heartedly pursued but soon gave up when it was obvious we could not be caught.
We returned to Alpha unharmed and with the battleships systems fully tuned. A perfect hit and run raid.
