I have no intention of upgrading to Windows Vista.

I expect in the interests of portability, a lot of the game developers will be turning out OpenGL based games.
With DirectX 10 being an initially small market, OpenGL products could take advantage of a much larger customer base, including all the different versions of Windows and Linux.

Edit: I think it could be somewhat amusing to see a DX10 version of WINE. I'd have a really good laugh if games were playable on Vista and Linux but not on XP.:D
