[font=Lucida Sans Unicode]A good man, a Military man, an honest man. Joshua Lane, born 769 A.S. A quiet boy growing up, detatched from the rest of the world and absorbed by his own imaginations. Planet Manhattan was a big place, and he always felt so squashed in. Like a lab experiment, except with billions of humans instead of a few rats. But his imagination was focused on escaping, to break free from the cage and enter the realm known as space.
He dreamed about it, he focused on it, he thought of nothing except escaping. Escaping the world. Childhood litrally flew past his eyes in an instant as he was thrown back and forth between different institutions of knowledge and education.
West Point was where he ended up. When the shuttle came down from space to take him there he was absolutely thrilled. He leaped in, strapped into his assigned seat and was so excited when he had his first glance of space. He was so young, just beginning to learn. The thrill lasted all the way until West Point. Sixteen at the time and already at West Point.
He learned well, made friends with both his fellow students and the teachers. By the age of eighteen he was suited up and ready for the Navy to do what they wanted with him.
They stuck him in a Guardian in the year 788 A.S. and joined him with a squadron. Nothing special, just one of the squadrons of a Carrier based in California. The Navy didn't expect much of him, thought he'd retire in a bomber. But in five years of joining that squadron he was already up and in command of a Gunboat. He was three years into a marriage that the Navy knew little about.
But there was a problem with Lane. He liked the Navy too much. He never did anything else, just worked and worked. His wife never saw him, he would go away for days, sometimes weeks at a time. And he wouldn't tell her about anything. A year before it started they were considering children. And now his wife was struggling to love him.
795 A.S. she had had enough. She just packed her bags and left. It was five days before Lane returned to his house and found all of her things missing and a note on their bed. For the first time in his life, he sat down and cried for a lose of something he loved. He never re-married. He never even went out on dates. He just kept working as if nothing had ever happened. Three days after he had returned to find the note he threw his wedding ring down the toilet of the [font=Lucida Sans Unicode]LNS-Richmond.
798 A.S. and he finally turned against the Navy. He knew why, he finally realised they weren't what was shown in the advertizements. He remembered the incident so well....

[font=Century Gothic]"Lieutenant Commander!" the Commander yelled through the open comm channel at Lane. Lane was aboard the LNS-Richmond, in a formation with the LNS-Florida Siege Cruiser.
"Yes sir?" he asked in a calm manner. The commander was a repulsive man, but Lane knew he was a superior so followed his orders to the letter.
"The suspected smugglers are five klicks ahead, fire up your cruise engines and disrupt 'em already, we ain't got all day!"
"Yes sir." Lane replied. "Fire up the cruise engines, prepare to disrupt the transport."
"Y'sir." the chief of the controls replied. He tapped a few buttons and the Gunboat was off formation and flying towards the transport. A minute passed and the transport was successfully disrupted.
"Initiating scan now sir." a crewman said, hitting more buttons as he did so. The Cruiser had now arrived behind them, it's shield unraised. The transport had few turrets, and none would be able to penetrate the Florida's armour. "The transport is clean sir, no contraband."
Both ships were silent for a few moments.
"Lieutenant Commander, destroy the transport," the commander eventually ordered. "It has been the witness of a Military operation, and we can't allow this kind of mistake to go to the presses." Lane was shocked at this order.
"But sir, I don't thi..."
"I don't care what you think Lieutenant, make it so!" Lane sat in his chair for a few seconds, contemplating his options. And finally he realized something. A Navy that kills innocent civilians was not a Navy he wanted to be in. And he didn't want this barely human commander living another day. Lane grabbed the controls of his Gunboat, making a hard left turn. His Gunboat now faced the Cruiser. He could see the shield chargers powering up. He charged the forward gun and fired. A lucky shot. It hit the bridge of the Cruiser, causing smaller secondary explosions that encompassed the ship. Lane didn't stick around to watch it go down. The transport was cruising away and as was he. The crew of his Gunboat began to applaud. They believed Lane had done the right thing. They would of done the same thing.
Alaska was the escape route. Resources were being brought through to construct prison stations and plan a new shipyard. It was not an unusual thing to see extra security moving into the system. He moved into Alaska and moved deep into the system. Soon he was confronted by the ones he was searching for, the group with no name at the time.
"What do you want?" demanded the leader of the squadron. He had noticed the Gunboat not powering weapons and taken it as a bad sign.
"Your attention," Lane replied. "We have realized something, you are right."

[font=Lucida Sans Unicode]And that was it. No people lie about their reasons for joining the Order. And the Order believed Lane and his crew. And they needed pilots. The Order gave them them a home, a squadron and a life.
Soon, now seperated, Lane rose the ranks of the Order just as he had done the Navy.
817 A.S. he recieved a gift personally given from the Fleet Admiral himself. His new ship to command, the "Geb" Class Light Assault Carrier, and the rank of Colonel. He saw it all as an honour, he was even allowed to name his Carrier.
When asked, he requested it be named the Sekhmet. When asked if he knew the bomber was known as this, he said he did. And he said he didn't care.
