Should Traders in RP, use Jump Holes?

I want to toss in something about insurance: Ageria affiliated IC will of course say jumpholes are unsafe, even though there's very little associated lore saying anything of the sort, other than Ageria blokes warding people off the means of transportation which ageria does not control, own, or make a profit from. Jump holes need to be phase aligned, yes, but nowhere does anything mention how long a jump hole can be aligned for.

Were I buying any sort of insurance, knowing full well the extent of the jumphole network around Kusari, as my early trader, Juno Kietan, who was raised a GC, a pirate, who would well know the holes, and their risks. With such a background, if IC was unwilling to insure me for fair premiums as I floated through the lane network, I'd go elsewhere, or insure my own damn self. As this character later joined Bowex, and even later Cryer, after dealing with pirate and lawful organizations from the entire reach of the Barrier, I'd think she'd bring her charts with her, her routes, her trade, and she'd continue to fly supertransports off the lanes and into the Holes. As turkish has said, there's much more profit in it. My character is only one example, and even assuming such is an incredibly rare fluke, you'd have to expect that in the last 400 years, its happened multiple ways across multiple pirates/corporations, with as many permutations as you can imagine. The information is out there, available to anything with the power to look for it, and to assume the house corps don't have that sort of power ignores the sheer weight of their commerce.

If there's more profit in it, corporations will be better able to recoup any losses they recieve for the increased danger. Furtermore, a corporation has no nee to actually export its risk to an insurance company, any insurance company, especially once its reached the size of something like a House corporation. An insurance company earns a profit on paying out for disasters, after taking in a premium from the insured for however many years, from many and diverse induviduals or organizations. The profit seeking corporation, then, can easily seek to increase its own profits by cutting out this additional leech, the insurer. By buying out or replacing their insurance company, any largish group can increase its own profit margin, and one expects that most every megacorporation of Sirius would do so.

To conclude, my ships use jumpholes, and they're not worried about losing their insurance premiums, because they're not insured by IC. For that matter, one doesn't see the IND worrying about IC stripping their insurance, either. One expects that perhaps they're on to something, yes?
